In-person
When booking a space on in-person training you are required to attend all sessions in full. If this is not possible then you will need to look at alternative training dates.
We may be able to make exceptions for emergencies, but this will mean that you will need to reattend the appropriate aspect of the course at a later date. Reattendance can be either in-person or online where appropriate. We will work with you to find the most suitable solution. It will be at the discretion of the team as to whether you are required to reattend the course in full or only the sessions that were missed.
Online
When booking a space on online training it is expected that you will attend as many sessions as you can throughout the course. Where sessions are missed, the recording will be available and you will need to watch this at your earliest convenience.
When sessions are attended live there is the opportunity for discussion, participation and to ask questions. When watching the recordings this is not possible and this will detract from your learning experience, so we ask that you minimise this wherever possible.
When you attend training we ask that you participate as fully in discussions and activities as you feel able to. This will help you to get the most out of your training experience. We do understand that this can be difficult for a multitude of reasons and we will never push you to join in if you don’t feel comfortable to do so.
When attending online training we ask that you keep your camera on where possible. This enables us and the other attendees to see you and facilitates better interaction and connection between participants. We understand that this isn’t always possible or comfortable and that there are occasions where you may wish to leave your camera off. That’s ok too and we will never ask you to switch your camera on if you don’t want to.
When attending training with us it is inevitable that other participants will have had different experiences to you and may hold different opinions to you. We ask that you respect the views of others even if you don’t agree with them and that any discussions are kept friendly and respectful.
We ask you not to interrupt other participants while they are speaking and give them the time and space to fully articulate their thoughts and opinions.
Bulling, hate speech and discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated in any way and we reserve the right to remove anyone from training who is behaving in this way.
CalmFamily training is a safe and confidential space. Sharing your experiences and personal journeys is an integral part of the training and if you feel comfortable to do this it will enhance your learning.
We will not divulge any personal details or any personal information or experiences that you share with us during your course without express permission to do so. We expect you to do the same for us and for your fellow attendees.
When attending online training you will be provided a link to an unlisted YouTube playlist with recordings of all the sessions. These are for you to watch if you miss a session or wish to rewatch a session. They are for your own use only and will contain personal information about you, the team and your fellow trainees so are not to be passed on to anyone in any circumstances.
Online
When attending online you are free to get up and get yourself food and drinks as and when you need to. There is no need to wait for designated breaks although there will be breaks during the session and a lunch break in the case of daytime sessions if you would rather not get up during the session.
In person
We will provide a range of hot and cold drinks and a selection of snacks for participants. You will need to bring a packed lunch and any additional or specific snacks you may want.
We will ask for allergy and dietary information prior to the course and will have appropriate drinks and snacks available for you. In the case of severe allergies, please let us know in advance if there are additional provisions we need to make.
You will be made aware prior to training if you have someone in your training group with a severe allergy and you will be asked to tailor the refreshments you bring with you accordingly.
When you attend training with us we talk about a lot of emotive topics that you may find difficult or uncomfortable for a number of reasons. If you are struggling, please tell us so we can support you.
We are more than happy to talk to you separately if this would help and if you need to take some time out of the training you are welcome to do this. If you are training in-person we can make time to talk to you after training or during a break if this is helpful to you. If you are training online we can schedule a separate phone or zoom call if you would find this helpful.
Online
When attending online training you are welcome to have your children with you if you want or need to. It is worth being aware though that it can be distracting and some of the sessions can be long. It’s worth considering if it’s possible to arrange childcare for some of the sessions.
If attending online training with your child, please remain aware and responsive to their need at all times.
If there is a lot of background noise we may ask you to mute your microphone if this is becoming distracting to us or your fellow trainees.
In person
When attending in-person training it is preferable to avoid having your child with you.
Small, non-mobile babies are welcome if you need to bring them with you and can usually be accommodated with little issue.
Older babies and children can attend with you if you need them to, however there are many reasons why this is more difficult. We would ask that you try to attend without your child if at all possible or consider online training if childcare is an issue.
If you need to bring an older baby or child with you, then, where possible we ask that you bring someone with you who can bring them in and out as needed. We have had partners, parents and friends fulfil this role in the past. Please get in touch with us if you anticipate needing to bring your child to in-person training.
Following on from your interactive training there is a written assessment that constitutes the final part of your training. This must be completed within 12 weeks of finishing your interactive training. Details of this will be given out at the end of interactive training.
You will not be permitted to run CalmFamily course, workshops or offer consultations until you have completed this assessment and had it signed off by one of the CalmFamily team.

This agreement details the agreement entered into by CalmFamily, a CalmFamily mentor, and a consultant mentee as part of the mentoring process for CalmFamily consultants.
- ‘CalmFamily’ is the not-for-profit organisation; a private limited company with a mission to educate and support families to have calmer relationships for a calmer and happier future.
- ‘Mentor’ means an experienced CalmFamily consultant who has been selected by the CalmFamily directors as suitable to mentor other CalmFamily consultants and has chosen to offer their private services as a CalmFamily mentor. This could either be you(i), if you have agreed to mentor a CalmFamily consultant, or, if you are a Mentee(ii), the person who mentors you as a result of the CalmFamily mentoring programme.
- ‘Mentee’ means you(i) if you have asked to be mentored through the CalmFamily mentoring programme, or if you are a Mentor as described above (ii), any person who you mentor as a result of the CalmFamily mentoring programme.
- The mentoring programme is designed to provide peer-to-peer support that may include techniques including mentoring, coaching, teaching, emotional support, and any other suitable method deemed appropriate by both parties.
- Regardless of the techniques used, goal setting and monitoring will be part of the process.
- The expectation is that mentoring will consist of meetings, either in-person, or, using online video, phone, or via any other form of communication between the mentor and mentee, at the frequency agreed by both.
- It is the responsibility of the mentor and mentee to manage the relationship as they consider appropriate.
- The mentor is responsible for the appropriate setting of goals, the recommendation of development activities, and for providing and facilitating supportive feedback with the mentee to reach the mutual decision that they are ready for independent practice.
- The mentee must take responsibility for their own development and the exploration of new ideas, strategies and approaches as well as meeting the mutually agreed upon goals.
- If any difficulties in the mentoring relationship arise, every effort must be initially made to resolve these by honest and compassionate discussion within the mentoring relationship.
- If any issues cannot be resolved, the CalmFamily leadership team will provide support, where possible. If the mentor is a member of the CalmFamily leadership team, any other member of the team can be contacted for support, and will remain neutral.
- If appropriate, an alternative mentoring relationship can be established, at the agreement of both parties.
- The mentee shall not at any time be obliged to act on any information, suggestion, advice or guidance given by the mentor as part of the mentoring programme, but if and to the extent that it does so, it shall do so at its own risk.
- The mentee is advised to take independent financial, legal or other appropriate professional advice (if relevant) before acting on any information, suggestion, advice or guidance given by the mentor.
- The mentor is not liable to the mentor, mentee or to any third party for any loss, damage, costs or liabilities suffered as a result of this agreement, the existence of the relationships between the parties, the services provided or the act or omissions of the Mentor or Mentee. Nothing in this clause shall limit or exclude any liability for death or personal injury, or which results from fraud.
Nothing in this clause shall limit or exclude any liability for death or personal injury, or which results from fraud
The legal agreement for purchase of services is solely between the mentor and mentee, privately, and as such CalmFamily is not obliged to provide any services, nor to intervene in the relationship or contract.
The fee that the mentee must pay for mentoring services from the mentor, for a period of up to six months, is £149, and must be paid by the mentee, directly to the mentor.
The fee and contract does not specify a number of meetings. This is the responsibility of the mentee and mentor to agree either at the beginning of the relationship, or as they go along, with mutual agreement.
The fee must be paid in full, and constitutes a non-refundable contract.
- If the mentee or mentor are unable to attend a mentoring session, they must notify the other party as early as possible before the agreed meeting time, and must make suitable accommodations to the other party to enable another meeting as soon as possible.
- If it becomes difficult to find mutually accessible meeting times, or if several meetings are consecutively missed by one party, the mentee and mentor should discuss the suitability of continuing with the mentoring relationship.
- No refunds will be given unless there is a serious failure of the mentor to fulfil their obligations within this contract, and where the mentee has tried without success to engage the mentor.
- If the mentee seeks a refund in the above circumstances, they should initially request this in writing (via letter or email) detailing the conduct of both parties that warrant such a refund, directly to the mentor.
- If there is any dispute regarding a refund, CalmFamily may offer mediation and support to resolve the situation, but are not liable for any part of refunding the fees.
- This mentoring process will begin on a mutually agreed upon date after this agreement has been signed (or agreed to formally online) and full payment has been made to the mentor.
- The mentoring process will last until it is mutually agreed that the mentee is ready to move forward without continued mentoring.
- The mentoring process will last for a maximum of a 6 month commitment on the part of the mentor for the standard fee.
- The mentor shall not at any time be obliged to provide or continue to provide any mentoring services to the mentee after this period.
- The mentor is responsible for supporting the mentee to reach this achievement before the 6 month deadline, to the best of their ability
- The mentee is responsible for undertaking the work, and meeting the expectations of the mentor in order to achieve the standard within the deadline, to the best of their ability.
- The mentor and mentee can mutually agree to extend the period, with the understanding that the mentor has the right to request an additional fee.
- The mentee shall keep confidential all information, suggestions, advice or guidance provided by the mentor as part of this process (unless waived by the mentor).
- The mentee and mentor will keep in strict confidence all and any information of a confidential nature which it obtains about either of the other parties as a result of the arrangements contemplated by this agreement. This clause shall not apply in relation to any information that is already available in the public domain other than as a result of a breach of this clause by any party.
This agreement does not provide any party with any additional rights than they otherwise have to any intellectual property of CalmFamily.
