More about me...
As my main role I am Mum to Eleanor who is 5 years old and Toby who is 2 years old. I am also a fully qualified BabyCalm and ToddlerCalm teacher and have recently finished being a Baby Sensory Leader in Chepstow and Monmouth. Following on from completing an introduction to family therapy training, I have just started my training as a Play Therapist with Play Therapy UK. The development of babies and toddlers is a huge passion of mine and I just love spending time with them (and their parents!).
I studied Psychology at University and then worked in research at the University of Cambridge for a few years. I have a scientific brain and am always keen to know the details behind how things work, and why. This is why I find the BabyCalm and ToddlerCalm philosophy so inspiring and important. All of the information on our courses and workshops is fully backed up by good scientific research, allowing parents to make informed and well researched choices.
I first found ToddlerCalm when Eleanor was 13 months and went on a workshop, from that moment I was hooked and found that the small changes we made had such an impact on, not only Eleanor’s behaviour and mood, but the whole family. I have previously worked with adults looking at life long emotional literacy skills and firmly believe that these skills can, and should, be learnt in toddlerhood - it is never too early (or late) to start!
I wish I had found BabyCalm when Eleanor was born as I have no doubt that it would have saved us all a lot of heartache and crying. I was always online looking for the answers only to be met with far too many ideas and decisions. I am sure the BabyCalm workshop or course would have enabled us to relax into parenting and trust my own instincts in a way we never did. Using the philosophy and ideas with my new baby has been making motherhood a lot less of a struggle and more of a joy. Now that my baby is approaching toddlerhood I am looking forward to parenting in a much more calm and focused way using ToddlerCalm as my framework again.
