Introduction to understanding toddlers

This short course is the first part of the toddler focused module, Understanding toddlers,.

This short course includes the lessons:

  • Introduction to understanding toddler
  • Defining toddlers
  • Toddler neuropsychological needs

The introductory free short course sets the scene for the rest of the short courses in the Understanding toddlers short course bundle. In the Understanding toddlers short courses we will cover some key areas of understanding regarding what it is like to be a toddler, and what it means to be the parent of a toddler. In the first instance we will define what a toddler is in CalmFamily. We will explore what we like to call “the toddler role”. We cover this because it can seem that toddlers are in limbo between babyhood and the “education” system. However, we understand better, toddlers actually have a lot to do. Professionals and parents need to recognise the toddler role; it can help them shift their approach to toddlers.
