The science and culture of toddler eating

This short course is the first part of the toddler eating module for the toddler specialist consultant training pathway.

This short course includes the lessons:

  • Toddler nutrition and digestion
  • How do adults eat? Food culture and ideology
  • Toddlers’ taste perceptions
  • What do toddlers eat?
  • How do toddlers eat?
  • What don’t toddlers eat?

In this course you will gain a detailed understanding of how toddler digestion matures and how toddlers eating preferences and habits develop. This is essential for understanding toddler behaviour around eating, and toddler eating needs.

Prerequisites: Core module 8 short course bundle on Human nutrition

Relevant prior learning: It is not necessary to complete the following courses prior to this course, however doing so will give you a good grounding in the relevant background areas.
Core module 3: An introduction to physiology and biochemistry.
Core module 5: An introduction to psychological development
