I'm in charge of everything to do with people (inside and outside of the company).
I deal with renewals, newsletters, client and teacher data collection administration, teacher and public queries, and training queries.
Who am I?
I have two chidren, Jack and Emmeline, and live in West Cumbria, on the edge of the Lake District. I’m originally from Wigan, Lancashire but relocated in 2010 and have never looked back.
After the birth of Jack I knew I wanted to do something to help, empower and most importantly support new parents. However, I was uncertain on what path I could take as it was a new-found passion. Initially I helped out at babygroups and indirectly supported parents with similar aged children to Jack in my local community, but I knew I wanted to do more.
I attended a ToddlerCalm workshop in 2013 and immediately knew that this was what I wanted to do, what I needed to do. I was inspired and empowered as a parent and knew that I wanted to train as a teacher to offer classes to parents in my local area.
I trained as a BabyCalm and ToddlerCalm teacher in 2013 and when the opportunity arose to join HQ, I jumped at the chance (even though I had a newborn baby too – I just couldn’t miss the opportunity to do something I have so much passion and love for).
I don’t have a great deal of spare time (like most parents) but I have recently discovered mindfulness and endeavour to make more pockets of time when I am able to do this. I love to be outdoors, in nature, exploring and just ‘being’. To watch my children ‘lose themselves’ in nature is so wonderful to see. We try to get outdoors as often as possible (usually in the rain, as if you’ve ever been to Cumbria you’ll know that it often rains here)!
I am absolutely fascinated by child development and child psychology and hope in the future to achieve some formal qualifications in this field. In the meantime I do a lot of reading and research into all things parenting related, particularly child car safety.
My working background has always been in Human Resources/Adminstration roles and I am very much a ‘people’ person. Because I've always dealt with either employees or customers of the companies I have worked within, it’s the environment I thrive within.
What do BabyCalm and ToddlerCalm mean to me?
To me, BabyCalm & ToddlerCalm simply supports and empowers parents - it's as simple as that!
All BabyCalm and ToddlerCalm courses and literature are packed with gentle ways to parent all backed up with scientific evidence. I truly believe that there is no right way to parent. BabyCalm and ToddlerCalm respect that each child, parent and family are unique and our courses / workshops provide social support so parents can think, share and learn together.
My aim is to empower both mothers and fathers and to increase their confidence in parenting, enabling them to make the right decisions for them and their baby or toddler!
